Absolutely agree, Carrie. As a graphic designer, I understand the significance of visual organization in a comprehensive document like a resume. I have applied this principle to my children's higher education pursuits (two down, one to go!)

Best of luck as you help your youngest navigate applications. By now you must feel like a seasoned pro and your background in design and branding has probably really helped your kiddos. Beyond just trying to "look good" for colleges, I do see tremendous value in kids being clear about who they are, what they stand for and how they hope to impact their future college community. The resume is the ideal spot to showcase all of this.

Thanks, Carrie! Great point, colleges (and future employers) want to see who these students really are, not just a list of achievements. Helping my kids shape that narrative has been a rewarding challenge 😊

I have my middle schoolers do a resume during 8th grade and might start earlier now!

Hi Joaquin, so great to see your name pop up! It’s important to engage in self-reflection and stop to think about strengths/areas of growth even at the middle school level. Your middle schoolers are lucky to have you :).
